“Join us on Wednesday, March 9th, 6-10 pm at RBG Hall: 15 Washington St., Rutgers University - Newark, NY to celebrate the work of fayemi shakur, Cultural Affairs Director for the City of Newark; Isolde Brielmaier, Deputy Director of the New Museum; and Michi Jigarjian, Partner, Curator, and Chief Social Impact Officer in the 7G Group.

This year’s Badass Art Woman Awards celebration features a stellar lineup of visual and performing artists! We are nearly besides ourselves with excitement to welcome back a long time friend and supporter of Project for Empty Space; the spectacular DJ April Hunt. The evening also includes a very special performance by SANJ, whose mixes meld classic Bollywood songs with favorite R&B hits.

Not-to-be-missed is our afterparty just a few steps away at the jazz club, Clement's Place. This sultry wrap to our evening hosts a very special performance by Candice Hoyes, a vocalist-as-storyteller whose Caribbean-inspired music is composed of soaring and supernatural sounds.

Visual interventions are inspired by the work of feminist artist Ana Mendieta. Yvette Molina will bring the fire with a series of new, and very special volcano goddess portraits. 2021 PES Artist in Residence Adama Delphine Fawundu will immerse us in water and indigo.”
